> I'm sorry if i'm not explaining myself sufficently. I think for the most part people are understanding you just fine. It's just that you've stated two constraints: 1. "W 98 se WILL be my primary OS." and 2. "the issue is getting the best HARDWARE for FGv099." which conflict with each other, because a lot of hardware no longer has W98se drivers made for it anymore. It hasn't been a supported OS by the hardware industry for several years now. Most current hardware doesn't have drivers made for it. Most older hardware still has W98se drivers available, but the drivers are not supported any longer -- any problems and you're on your own. The people who are suggesting Linux are suggesting it because it's the cheapest (in terms of cost) way to resolve this conflict between your two constraints. If you absolutely must use W98se -- if that constraint is inflexible -- then the other one must be flexible, and you cannot get the best hardware for FG. So then your constraint becomes "what's the best hardware I can get that works well under W98se?" -c |
