Don't just run off and implement this; critique it first ! I think it unifies the panel resolution, single monitor operations and the needs of VFR and IFR flight activities into a simple whole. The display zoom feature notionally adjusts the angle of view by factors of two. VFR and IFR defaults are 45degx36deg and IFR/VMC is 90degx72deg. The viewhat and shifted digits are modified to step the view direction in relative angles (of 30deg and 24 deg) instead to an absolute angle. Default directions are: VFR -22..22 -24..+12 IFR -22..22 -48..-12 and 22..67 -48..-12 IFR/VMC -45..45 -48..+24 The HUD is always shown in the correct forward location for the projector, if "head up" or always shown in the middle of the monitor, if "head mount". The two property-selectable modes look the same when in the "VFR" default. The panel, if visible, occupies the range of angles ... -45..67 -48..-12 but the left 22 and right 22 degree sections are actually cockpit side panels. Some aircraft have fuse panels, placards and similar in those areas. The atlas map, or flight plan log, or whatever the pilot has on their knee. is located in the area -22..+22 -84..-48 degrees ,.. when enabled. The ASI, AI and ALT occupy the angle range -14..+14 -20..-12 The OBS are +14..+22 -36..-12 and radio stack is on the right side IFR panel. This should look almost identical to what we currently have for the existing panel visible and invisible modes. In the zoomed in with-panel mode, the user gets two panels of IFR with good quality graphics for easy scanning. |
