This allows for easy expansion or customization of various levels of volume management. The EVMS team is announcing the next maintenance release of the Enterprise Volume Management System. Package 2.1.1 is now available for download. This release is primarily intended to allow EVMS to work with the new Device-Mapper interface, but also contains other miscellaneous bug fixes. This version of EVMS will continue to work with existing 2.4 kernels compiled for EVMS 2.x, but users are encouraged to upgrade to the new Device-Mapper kernel driver if possible.... read more

This release is for the new EVMS design, which is based on user-space volume discovery and communication with existing kernel drivers, such as MD/Software-RAID and Device-Mapper.

EVMS Patches for XFS and Util-Linux Released

The EVMS project has released two new patches.

The first is a kernel patch for users of XFS version 1.1. It allows XFS to operate correctly on EVMS volumes by preventing unaligned log writes. This problem is fixed in the current CVS version of XFS, and in version 1.2.

The second patch is against the "mount" program in the "util-linux" package. It allows mount-by-label to search for the desired label on EVMS volumes.... read more
