Mostly, I have a single include file with definitions including image= s and I'd hate to have to include every snippet in a different text fil= e for inclusion. Hum. Also, in previous versions, if an image was included immediately before a paragraph with a preceding class:: directive, the image was inserted as part of the paragraph in a way that precluded the action of CSS clauses such as :first-letter.
