Category: DocBook Group: v5.1 Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: Michael Valent (faros65) Assigned to: Norman Walsh (nwalsh) Summary: New common attribute: DB Initial Comment: Hello, I am using DocBook for five years now and will soon switch from 4.2 to 5. While I do appreciate that there are some useful new global attributes for distinguishing specific content variations (e.g. audience), one is still missing: DB for distinguishing between different databases. Of course I can continue (ab)using another attribute, but if there are special ones one for computer vendors and chip architecture, why not for DB systems? Thank you and greetings, Michael ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Norman Walsh (nwalsh) Date: 2008-07-16 10:31 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=81663 Originator: NO Many of the common effectivity attribute are historical/legacy names. Several years ago, it became clear that there was a nearly endless list of possible values. We added a general "condition" attribute at that time, one without specific semantics. We might be persuaded to add more, but I think there will be some reluctance. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=384107&aid=2017771&group_id=21935 |
