Category: gentext Group: None Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: Akagi Kobayashi (akagi_k) Assigned to: Michael(tm) Smith (xmldoc) Summary: improvements to gentext/locale/ja.xml Initial Comment: I have made changes to the docbook-xsl-1.72.0/common/ja.xml and would like to submit it for inclusion in the next release. I should also like to be able to track its progress; I am not a developer. Would be glad to answer queries and provide a sample pdf generated using the modified gentext file. Attaching the ja.xml and a text file detailing the changes. The way the XSL build system for the locale files work is this: If the source file does not contain a mapping for a particular key, the corresponding mapping from the https://docbook.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/docbook/trunk/gentext/locale/en.xml file -- that is, the English-language mapping for the key -- is used instead. So you should probably edit the ja.xml source file, along with a copy of the en.xml file open for comparison. If you have other specific questions, please definitely don't hesitate to contact me. if you like, feel free to contact me at mi...@w3... --Mike ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Akagi Kobayashi (akagi_k) Date: 2008-01-28 23:44 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1803283 Originator: YES Hi Mike, Thanks - previously wasn't able to access the site. Having fetched the source version and comparing it to the version that we use, I see great many differences. For example, some of the key entries with lang="en" are removed altogether, for example, PubDate. We use this key in our documents, so I should ike to reintroduce this. Is this OK? Are you familiar with the reasons why these changes have been made? It seems to be that these gentext keys should not have been deleted. Instead, like in the example of Legal Notice, the key should be kept but the text removed, leaving only the pair of double quotes. Other changes are simply changing the order of items, and others are still incomprehensible. I will send a separate e-mail on these after I run a test using the latest version. The problem is that what you submitted is an edited copy of an auto-generated file. What you need to edit is a copy of the source file, which is here: https://docbook.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/docbook/trunk/gentext/locale/ja.xml Please download and edit a copy of the source file, then re-upload/attach that to this report. --Mike ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=373750&aid=1871965&group_id=21935 |
