Final(?) update

Hi, all friends

I made a update to cygnome-1.4 package repository. Perhaps this update
perhaps is the final one. As we're heading to GNOME2, it seems that
there's nothing more we want to do with it.

This time there isn't too many new package release(except gvim-6.2 and
a little change to startgnome). I just re-uploaded some packages to the
installation repository (http://cygnome.sourceforge.net/install).
These packages were released on the project's Files page
(https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=67909),
but Due to some reason (e.g some packages are too big) was no uploaded
to repository, thus kept not available for direct access from Cygwin setup.... read more

sylpheed-claws-0.9.6

As aspell now is a official cygwin package, this time we enabled aspell support.
If you're still using cygwin-1.3 series, you can use the package we provided,
it's just a rebuild on cygwin-1.3.
And widechar support issue is fixed in the Cygwin port.... read more

They are glib2, GTK+2, atk, pango, linc, ORBit2, bonobo-activation, etc... about all the packages of base
GNOME 2.2.1 desktop (get the sources from http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/gnome/desktop/2.2/2.2.1/sources/\).
We also get metacity window manager and nautilus file manager to work, and some applications like gaim, gedit, ggv, etc.
Well, there are so many of bugs :-( and not stable yet, but, the GNOME 2.2 on cygwin is ready to run!... read more

Happy anniversary and Cygwin GNOME 2.x started.

Hi, guys!

As to I know, it was on Apr 1, 2002, Steven O'Brien published his work
on porting GNOME to Cygwin in the DLL approach on the cygwin.com homepage,
so Happy anniversary, Cygwin GNOME!

With Steven's great work (and some others), the GNOME Desktop came to Cygwin,
and with his great efforts, Cygwin GNOME becomes more stable and fast.
Thank you, Steven!

And we're moving toward GNOME 2.x now.
It was registered as a new project: cygnome2.

Glimmer-1.2.1 available now

Hi, guys!

I've upgraded glimmer to 1.2.1.

Glimmer is a simple code editor for use with just about any programming
language. It is still in the development stages, but is fairly useful
as a C/C++ editor with all the frills.

There're two binary available this time.
Version 1.2.1-1 is built without python support, while 1.2.1-2 do.

Note that different from version 1.0.1, latest version of glimmer
requires you have PyGTK installed if you want the python scripting support.
Thus you need to install the gnome-python package if you want to use the 1.2.1-2
release. ... read more

Be a little patient for Cygwin GNOME 1.4 Beta2

We're upgrading our package baseline to the latest Cygwin net release
(cygwin-1.3.20, gcc-3.2, binutils-20021107, etc) and rebuilding all the core packages.

As we need more time to test, we put off the 'release date'.
According to the result of the tests already performed, we have seen big improments in the stablity, performance and usability.

And this time we'll make these packages available from Cygwin setup first.
The introduction of package startgnome would create the desktop shortcut 'Cygwin GNOME' for you automaticly, you can start GNOME from a click!... read more

Installable via Cygwin setup.exe

Hi, guys!

We're trying to make CyGNOME installable via the Cygwin setup.exe and we've got a few scores.

At present, it is an experimental feature,
and only the core GNOME libraries are available.
Once we find it stable, we would add more packages.
(And due to space limit on the website, we can't promise to provide all packages
available in the way.)

Launch setup.exe, and add http://cygnome.sourceforge.net/install as a 'mirror si
te URL'.
As it's in test stage, we're appreciate any bug reports
(the script I wrote to generating setup.ini is very ugly.) ... read more

Updated: gnome-libs-1.4.2-2

Hi, friends!

I've rebuilt gnome-libs-1.4.2 with Steven O'Brien's new patch published on March 6th, and uploaded to the download list.

The main change in the new patch is fork()->vfork().

This release is also built with _Xsetlocale() rathan orignal setlocale().
as cygwin lacks good support for i18n in its own setlocale().
Thus I resorted to XFree86's _Xsetlocale().
(Applications that use gtk_set_locale() or gnome_init() now have right locale.
But not those who call setlocale() directly.) ... read more
