Hi everybody, I am new to Python so you can assume that I know nothing about ctypes also On one hand I have started reading (studying) Python through John Zelle's Book. On the other I have a small project that I would like to implement in Python. It involves reading a special db (Metastock - CompuTrac data format) and there is an API to make it easy to developers<http://www.trading-tools.com/metalib.htm> . The thing is that it supports Supports Visual Basic (.NET), C++ (.NET), C#, Pascal, Java and Delphi or any other programming language that supports Win32 COM DLLs. but says nothing about Python. I contacted the company <http://www.trading-tools.com/index.htm> but they were not much help, they said that it "should work" but nothing more. At that time I referenced Mark Hammond's <http://http://starship.python.net/crew/mhammond/win32/>pywin32 package<http://http://starship.python.net/crew/mhammond/win32/> . But going through the changes of the latest version of Python (2.5.1), I came across ctypes. As I've said, know nothing about programming, very little about Python but ctypes seems to be it for this small project. Please let me know if this is it, and if so, would I have to learn C to implement the calls or would it be just plain old simple Python? Thanks in advanced, -- Daniel N Vareika |
