(Eliminates > quoting issues, but adds a batch file somewhere on your system to > keep up with.) yeah, i made a batch file duplicating the line in my cream shortcut, and asked windows to open all txt documents with this batch file. this almost worked ;) after making this change, every txt document i double-clicked would launch cream 9along with a cmd window), but not open any documents; it was a blank cream, as if i had just double clicked the cream-shortcut (which in essence i had). no urgency here -- this is getting to an obsessive complusive, geeky level pretty fast. it's not THAT big a deal to right-click on a txt file and select 'edit with cream.' hehe. just following up on your very helpful comments. thanks for your response. -- m j teigen "Intellectually, religious emotions are not creative but conservative.
