Cream never turns off the backup option. (Swap files, in certain conditions, but never backups.) > I opened a file and edited it and saved it as something else.=20 The original file will have the contents of its last save. > Then I saved again to make a backup of it. Well it saved the new > (backup I was trying to make) file under the original files name.=20 I am unable to reproduce this, a new file's first backup is named "newfilename.ext.~" for me. What system are you on? Please provide more details. > I thought no problem I=E2=80=99ll just get the ~ version that I always us= ed > to have when I did=E2=80=99nt have stupid cream and rename it to the > original name. viola nothing lost. Guess what? No ~ version to go > get and rename.=20 You said above that the back up was named according to the original file, here you say no backup exists. Which is it? If you care to help resolve this I'll need some more details, such as what platform you are on, what version of Vim, what version of Cream, are you using any non-Cream scripts, etc. In any case, I am certain Cream does not turn off backups nor delete backup files, this would be absurd. The SaveAs function is just Vim's ":browse confirm saveas" function, too, nothing special. -- Steve Hall [ dig...@mi... ] |
