The solution I've suggested was specific for the multiple-member-types 
issue, because Member.py is returning portal_memberdata's 
defaultMemberSchema as it's schema (so its returning always the same 
schema for all types). Also, it is pretty far from beeing a good 
solution, because I think it will break VariableSchemaSupport through 
the ZMI, for that type.

Your problem is different, I think.
It's working for you, because now you don't get the schema from 
portal_memberdata. The problem was that the schema registered as the 
default is not the same of your type.

Are you correctly registering your type and setting it as the default type?

Anyway, in the san_jose_sprint_branch I think this is not a problem (the 
default schema issue).
