This may be a bit philosophical for the development list. Oh well.=0A=0AI'= m curious - are the CC licenses themselves open sourced? Can I create a Sh= aring - Noncommercial Deed? If not, can we get someone at CC to do it?=0A= =0AI was thinking about this last night. As many of you know, I'm working = on a collaborative filmmaking project using ccHost. It will be a commercia= l website, and any commercial use of the work must be posted through the si= te (in order to ensure the revenue gets split fairly amongst all parties). = I would like to offer the option of CC-licensing the archive, but this pre= sents a problem. I get 20% of the revenue coming into the project. I use = that to develop new tools to help the site grow. If the work can be commer= cially sampled, my archive essentially becomes royalty free: Anyone who wa= nts to could pirate the videos without contributing back into the project.= =0A=0AThis problem would be averted with a Sampling - Noncommercial license= . Someone could log into my project and post files under an S-NC license. = This would allow the community of CC Deeded work to grow without allowing = others to make money off of my tools without shairng the revenue with me.= =0A=0AThoughts? Feelings? Lynch mobs?=0ABrenton=0Apurple monkey dishwashe= r.=0A |
