Small bug fixes for port order on mdns advertisement on intel macs, playlists based on bitrate. Primarly, though, this release is to apply fix for CVE-2008-1771. Thanks to Nico Golde for bringing it to light.

mt-daapd version 0.2.1 released

mt-daapd is a daemon that acts as an iTunes music server. It uses Apple's Rendezvous technology to advertise itself to iTunes clients on the local network. It is web-configurable and managable, and pretty dang cool, if I do say so myself.

This release adds lots of new features, including background database updates, better support for .m4a and .m4p files, ogg/vorbis metatag handling, dynamic artwork for aac files, better VBR support, including Xing/Lame tag support, and various bugfixes and stability improvements.... read more

mt-daapd version 0.2.1-pre4 released

mt-daapd is an attempt to build an iTunes server for POSIX compliant machines.

This release updates mDNS code to match Apple's 58.8 drop, and bugfixes for 0.2.1 show-stopping bugs.

This really, *really* represents the last version before 0.2.1.

Seriously.

mt-daapd version 0.2.1-pre1 released

mt-daapd is an attempt to build an iTunes-compatible server for POSIX machines.

To that end, I submit version 0.2.1-pre1 for your enjoyment. This is a development release, but passes the strict "It Works For Me" quality assurance process I use to determine release candidates, and may work. Given, of course, that you liberally define the word "work".

This version has query and browse support, necessary to act as a server for the Roku SoundBridge and perhaps other embedded daap clients. It offers improved tag handling, quicker connect response, a richer playlist scripting syntax, whiter whites, and minty fresh breath.... read more

mt-daapd version 0.2.0 released

mt-daapd is a daemon that acts as an iTunes music server. It uses Apple's Rendezvous technology to advertise itself to iTunes clients on the local network. It is web-configurable and managable, and pretty dang cool, if I do say so myself.

This release adds support for iTunes 4.5 and 4.6, support for iTunes .m4a and .m4p files, support for various new ID3 tags including track number, disc number, composer, orchestra, conductor and more. It is more protocol compliant than previous versions, has improved logging, improved stability, and is generally shinier and more corrosion resistant.... read more

mt-daapd version 0.1.1 released

mt-daapd is a daemon that acts as an iTunes music server. It uses Apple's Rendezvous technology to advertise itself to iTunes clients on the local network. It is web-configurable and managable, and just plain cool.

This release adds support for Solaris, correctly publishes track information for shared .MP3 files, adds support for Howl (> 0.9), as well as fixing several bugs.

mt-daapd version 0.1.0 released

This is the initial release of mt-daapd, a daemon to allow a Linux or Mac OSX machine to share MP3 files with iTunes users. This release includes support for static and dynamic playlists, web-based status information, and automatic mDNS registration so iTunes users automatically see the server, with no client-side configuration.

Information on installation and other features of mt-daapd can be found on the project homepage at http://mt-daapd.sourceforge.net

Project started

This SourceForge site, while a new project, has actually been a work in progress for the last 3 months or so. In the next day or so, the SourceForge team will import my CVS, and I hope to have released packages by the end of the first week in January.

A wiki has been set up at the project home page (http://mt-daapd.sourceforge.net) and while currently content-free, this will expand to include HOWTO documents, pointers to related packages, and so forth.... read more
