We have deep frames in our hive, (its a Layens horizontal hive). To get the the honey out of the frames you uncap the cells and put the frames in a basket inside the extractor. The handle turns a gear drive that goes to the center vertical shaft. It is geared up to create centrifugal force, throwing the honey toward the drum.
