Stop capture after some number of seconds has existed in VirtualDub for ages. Capture -> Stop conditions... -> Capture time exceeds X seconds. The Acccept button will use the setting until you close VirtualDub. I prefer this option. The Save button will cause the setting to persist. My request for this ticket would be to change the timescale of this feature to minutes instead, or add a drop-down to choose units.
