The problem is, without doubt, the PDF. It is a corrupt PDF. My point was that it would be great if Skim could fail a bit more gracefully. (Instead of hanging.) Indeed, it used to. It hanging on corrupt PDF:s is new behaviour. Not sure when it was introduced, but confident it did not used to work like this.

Preview opens the pdf, but once you start scrolling it hangs, too. (So sounds like non-Skim specific bug? If it can be called a bug? Less than ideal behaviour, at least. ;-) )
