Same problem over here. I use large UTF-8 textfiles from different OCR software engines to compare/find erros. And because I have to reopen the files often to fine tune the OCR processes my temp folder runs into 5+ GB of size after just after three days of work. Won't anyone take care of this. Please Besides: I LOVE WINMERGE.
