First off, backup anything valuble off of this laptop, becace VeraCrypt will corrupt your data. It will happen eventually. VC is not designed to work on modern laptops, especially with Windows 10 preinstalled. It works OK on a non system partition,so that's a workaround for you. And difinetly do not delete any partions, especially the recovery as it has your product key which matches with your BIOS or whatever they call it nowdays. Spend money on bitlocker. It's worth it.
Bios update is not foolish,it's normal. Using Veracrypt is.
What can you do? First step is to leave a neagative review of this so called software https://sourceforge.net/projects/veracrypt/reviews After that start troubleshooting. What OS do you have? What type of encryption, system partition I assume? Did you finish the encription and restarted? Has it worked once? Can you create a boot disk and see if partions are in tact?
If Veracrypt was presented as a project run by one guy in his spare time - then I would have never downloaded this crap. But if you search on the internet for encryption software -VC comes up as number one solution! TrueCrypt was a great soft - it worked for me for years without issues! And most people are careless enough not to backup anything. Do you backup your data when you install a Microsoft product for example? I don't. Enigma...I have a Sony FIT15 laptop with Windows8.1 ( 6.3)preistalled,...
I guess if you press Defer button it kills your file system to RAW and you can't do anything with your drive. Did I get it right developers? Because this is exactly what happened to my laptop. Absolutely terrible software! I encourage everyone to leave a negative review for this virus!
Unfortunatly I didn't make a backup nor did I make a backup of my data...I am just an average user who doesn't have an indepth knowledge. I tried several recovery programs and none of them were able to recover partition. I was able to recover some files though....but not all.
"Why does VeraCrypt interfere with the partition table?" I'd like also know this. And more importantly how to recover the table back? That's why so many people lose data.
Did not work for me. I assume interrupting encryption ( which suppose to be a feature) just messes everything up. This program should be removed as it does so much harm to people!
