Sure. When user chose to use it I will not add set link mtu nor set link mru to the config file.

The change seems to work, lets just wait for original submitter to confirm it fixes his original issue. On pfSense we are setting MTU on link, using set link mtu NNNN. I will need to add a new option to let user chose to override. To get it done would I need to move to set iface mtu NNNN override and do not set MTU on link?

This new patch works as expected here. My connection ended up with MTU 1480 as before. Thank you very much!
