Hi Frank, Thank you for taking time to answer my question. As you described, I tried to change user profiles via multi-select box in the "User Basic Information" portlet but it did not work. I selected "Employee" profile for a user that I created. As you can see from the screenshot (ss0), "Employee" profile is not activated for the user that I created and this user is not listed in the /intranet/users/index?&user_group_name=Employees list.
