I was using the version, that came with apt - 1.43.2 I now compiled and tested 1.43 and 1.45. With 1.43, it was the same as with 1.43.2 - about 60 seconds. 1.45 is faster, it takes 20 seconds.
PS: This is not the case, when the drive is mounted read-only. XFE shows up immediately, displaying drive contents.
XFE takes very long to show folders at startup of Raspbian
The latest version of cwsdpmi, r7, loaded permanently at boot, solved the problem. config.sys DEVICE=C:\DOS\HIMEM.SYS /TESTMEM:OFF DEVICE=C:\DOS\EMM386.EXE NOEMS NOVCPI ..... autoexec.bat .... LH C:\DOS\SMARTDRV.EXE LH C:...\CWSDPMI.EXE -p .....

Anyways, Advmame still is not working as it did before, same error. If someone has an idea or a link to a guide for setting this up on Dos, I would be very thankful. Right now trying around with memory managment, which is a lot of fun actually, but I dont have the time for it anymore like I used to have and nothing seems to help. thanks a lot simon
PS I just found out, that this error only occurs, when the snapshot videos are enabled. When I change the path of the snaps to something else, AdvMenu starts normally!
Hello Gamers, I am trying to run AdvanceMenu and AdvanceMame on a MS-DOS PC, connected to a Sony TV. After some days of trying different settings and different graphic cards and understanding all the programs, I had it running smoothly, with the snap videos in the menu and everything... but then the HD broke down (it was very old, like all the hardware...) and since then, I cannot get it running again, no matter, what I try. I remember, that I tried adjusting some modelines and fiddling with advcfg......
