Don't know if it changed anything, but after my post above I found and extracted d2x-xl-makefiles.7z. Tried compiling again, and it still errors on make.
(Debian 11 x86-64) Found this script online: L=$(find -name Makefile.am) perl -i -pe 's/\bINCLUDES\b/AM_CPPFLAGS/g' $L followed by a touch ./NEWS ./README ./AUTHORS ./ChangeLog got it to a point where sh ./autogen.sh would say Now you are ready to run ./configure and ./configure would finish, but make gives a bunch a messages and errors out. make make all-recursive make[1]: Entering directory '/media/Environ/Compile/d2x-xl-src-1.18.77/d2x-xl-src-1.18.77' Making all in 2d make[2]: Entering directory...
