These sound like improvements, but rather than "Appearance" or "View", "Interface" would be a more accurate term.

I am having the same issue. I've found that archives downloaded from Owncloud work fine unless they contain subfolders, and even then all the individual files can be extracted, although 7-Zip reports an error. I am attaching a small archive that produces this error in the latest 7-Zip on Windows, and some other decompression software, although some Windows Explorer, for example, handles it normally.
