'Search for:' history not working..

I'm currently using the latest 4.2pre5 on Windows 2000.
I use 'Search for:' a lot, and it hasn't stored any of
the previous strings I've searched for in ages.. ( many
versions now ) I've used jEdit for a loooonnnnggggggg
time and, who knows, maybe it still has around some
defunct registry settings or something.

The only plugin I use is 'drag&drop'. So it can't be
any weird plugin interaction.. For a long time it just
kept the same strings
in it's 'search history' ones it got a heck of a long
time ago, because I almost never need to use any of
them, now there
are none in there, and none get added..

I like jEdit, and have used it for a long time, but
this 'problem' still is around..
