under mac os x 10.2.6, you cannot type chinese characters into
the edit window.

normally on a mac, when you type chinese , an editor window
opens so that you can use romanized spelling to choose the
chinese charcters.
on jedit , this window does not open

jEdit does not support input methods yet.

I'm running jedit 4.1 final on Win2K. You can not see the
characters (Japanese/Chinese) typed into the input window,
but the characters will be placed correctly in the main text
area. Also, the input window will lose focus if a menu item is
pulled down, and the X-like window will pop-up as the input
window. This focus is fixed (or IME setting perhaps?) by
reselecting the input method on the IME toolbar.
