Howdy,
I've had a weird recurring problem on Windows XP with
pre6 (about four times today). It seems to happen on
saving, and basically the editor just locks up. After
a force-quit, however, when I reload the document I was
working on, the file is empty, and all my changes are
lost. I've never had this happen before, so I'm
guessing it's something that has changed in pre6.
Unfortunately, there doesn't appear to be anything
interesting in the Activity Log when this happens.
I'll keep trying to catch it and see if I can come up
with more information.
(One suggestion for the Activity log - it might be
worth emitting timestamps at the beginning of log lines
- it's hard to tell what things are recent and what is
unrelated, because I can't tell when things are written
to the log.)
Thanks...

I have just downloaded pre5 again, because I have the same
problem as described above, also on Wondows XP.

I too am rolling back to pre5 since I've lost a lot of work
a couple of times, and it's just to risky for me (sigh, back
to viewing Perl sans syntax highlighting).
I'm going to upgrade this to a severe bug (hope that's kosher).

Happens to me on W2K. I guess I have to go back to pre5.
This is definately a serious fatal bug and should be fixed
ASAP.

I can acknowledge the problem. Some technical details:
Linux (RedHat 7.2), JDK 1.4.1 (also JDK 1.4.1_01), jEdit 4.1
pre 6.
Description: sometimes jEdit just freezes during editing.
The only way out is to kill the Java process. I found out
that this happens sometimes during autosafe. The autosafe
file will just be about 24KByte large at max. So when
recovering from the autosafe file, all the text beyond that
size will be lost.
This is a very critical bug!
It happened several times now. I'm going back to pre5.
