writenode
writenode is a browser-based note-taking and personal knowledge tool for capturing and connecting information as users browse. Its Chrome extension lets users save selected text, webpages, links, PDFs, and spoken notes without leaving the current page. Captures become searchable, connected nodes, and a knowledge graph helps users see relationships among saved ideas. Users can ask questions grounded in their own materials and use a rich-text editor with AI actions to revise, summarize, expand, or reformat notes. A built-in Model Context Protocol (MCP) connector lets Claude read and write the user's writenode memory. The web app also supports custom mental models that shape AI responses. Researchers, builders, writers, and other knowledge workers can use writenode to collect web-based information and retrieve or develop it later. Users can bring their own AI and transcription provider keys.

Barside
Barside is a free desktop productivity app that brings together notes, tasks, reading, meetings, community spaces and AI tools. Notes support links, maps, drawings, kanban boards, tables and charts, and can be imported from Notion, Obsidian or Evernote. Checklists appear on a task board with due dates and reminders. Articles and newsletters go into a reading inbox for highlighting. Community and team spaces include chat, polls, shared notes and files. Video meetings include screen sharing and live captions; screen recordings can be added to notes and edited into captioned clips. An AI assistant and scheduled agents use accounts from Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or OpenRouter, and changes can be undone. Barside connects to Claude Code and Cursor through MCP. The app also includes a password vault, clipboard history and system-wide search. Notes are stored locally and work without an account.
