"Left behind in the Video conference space"

    Posted 2024-06-03

Pros: Easy to get, easy to download, easy to use once you learn how to.
You can use it pretty much everywhere.

Cons: It did not evolve, it requires way too many permissions for the capabilities it offers. Microsoft decided to give priority to Teams and just kinda forgot about Skype.

Overall: If Microsoft hadn't had the business relations it has built over the years it's probably neither Skype nor Teams would be used today, at least not as much as Zoom.
This has happened before with other products acquired by Microsoft.

"Stable communication for employees of a real estate company."

    Posted 2023-05-14

Pros: The first thing I liked about Skype was group video conferencing, users can make group video calls with up to 50 people at the same time. This is especially useful for online work meetings, virtual classes, or keeping in touch with friends and family in different parts of the world. Additionally, Skype allows users to share their screen during a group video call, making it easier for team collaboration and problem solving. Another positive aspect that can be highlighted is the extensive integration of Skype, Skype integrates with other Microsoft applications, such as Outlook and Office, which makes it easy to organize meetings and collaborate on projects online. In addition, Skype also integrates with popular platforms like Facebook and PayPal, allowing users to connect with friends and conduct financial transactions securely and efficiently. It also integrates with other Microsoft services like OneDrive, allowing users to share files and collaborate on projects online. I liked Skype's messaging system, users can send text messages, pictures and files to anyone in their Skype contact list. In addition, Skype's chat function is very secure, since all messages are end-to-end encrypted to guarantee the privacy and security of the user, this function is particularly useful for work meetings, interviews or to keep in touch with friends and family around the world. Additionally, Skype uses audio compression technology to minimize quality loss, even on slow or unstable networks.

Cons: The first negative aspect of Skype is the high consumption that it has on absolutely all devices, it is a fairly heavy platform and its consumption is even higher when it is running in the background, which causes slowness on the computer or mobile device when it is being used. using Skype while in other applications. Another negative aspect is that there are many local numbers that you cannot call if you do not have credits within Skype, this is very negative since I would love to be able to communicate to any local number without having to recharge more credits for these calls. Skype also presents some connectivity problems, which sometimes causes calls to be interrupted unexpectedly when inactivity or without sharing audio has elapsed for a long time, it is necessary to improve the stability of calls within Skype, currently there are many connectivity problems in these calls, on several occasions my calls have been interrupted and I have had to start them again. These are the only negative things I have noticed about this platform, as most of the features it offers are very stable and provide constant communication.

Overall: Skype allows employees of our real estate company to easily communicate with each other, regardless of their geographical location. Employees can share files, presentations, and other important documents in real time, facilitating collaboration and decision making. Skype also allows employees to make real-time audio and video calls, which is especially useful for team meetings and client presentations. Another way that Skype has helped communication within our real estate business is through its instant messaging feature. Employees can send quick and direct messages to each other, allowing for clear and effective communication. In addition, Skype also allows the creation of chat groups, which is especially useful for team projects or keeping employees up to date on the latest developments in the company. Overall, Skype has proven to be an invaluable tool for communication within a real estate business. It enables easy and effective communication between employees, improves collaboration and decision-making, and makes it easier to stay up-to-date on the latest company developments. If a real estate company wants to improve its internal communication and collaboration, Skype is definitely a tool to consider.

"Skype is an outstanding communication software"

    Posted 2022-09-26

Pros: Skype is the best software for audio and video meetings as compare to other product available in the market. I use Skype for audio meetings with the Principals and directors of different campuses. Its audio quality is very good as compare to other products. Our meetings remain continue for many hours and this product does creates any issue in the communication process. Screen sharing and file sharing features also work very well. Chat feature, controls and permission features also work great. Its video meeting feature is also fantastic. This is the best software for one to one video calls. I highly recommend this software.

Cons: Skype does not offer landline dialing feature in the free version. While making audio calls, i have experienced distortion in voice sometimes. For video calls, it is good for limited number of participants. The customer service needs to be improved.

Overall: Skype is the best product as compare to similar products. It has fantastic audio and video features. Screen sharing and file sharing features work very well. Chat feature also works good. Its control and permission features are also useful and work great. Audio and video quality remains good during meeting. This is the best product for communication with medium and small sized organization even with free version. The paid version gives additional feature. I highly recommend this software for use in all types of organizations.

"I get many features while making a video call."

    Posted 2022-09-11

Pros: 1.- The best feature that I like about Skype is the possibility to invite a user to a call without requiring an invitation or to schedule a meeting for a certain time of a video call. I just have to start a call with someone and hit the “+” button to call another person and include them in a group call without ending the current call. I can also select the people I want to call, as if it were a list and call, Skype will do the rest of putting them all in a single video call.

2.- I can share files of any type through instant messaging without the need to share an external link of the file stored in any part of the cloud such as Dropbox, Drive, Box, etc. It speeds me up to be able to send a file this way since I only have to search for the file, drag and drop it into the chat of the user I want to send it to without any problem.

3.- I can access instant messaging while I have a voice or video call, this is useful when it comes to group calls and not everyone can use their camera and microphone or just want to listen and write. It also works when there are many participants and only one person is allowed to speak, thus avoiding confusion and diverting the information that is being provided in a call.

4.- I can link Skype with my phone number to make voice calls or send text messages, it is very useful for when I want to receive messages or answer a call without using Skype, it is enough to acquire a phone number within this software to start using that VoIP feature.

5.- I can record the calls in case I require it. I want to have information that was given within a video call or the performances of a slide when screen sharing through Skype. I was amazed at the quality of it so I had no problem rewinding the video and annotating everything I needed to.

6.- The annotations are very complete since I can customize the pointer, such as using the pencil style for simplicity, as well as the pen, also markers or highlighters, which is useful for marking text on the shared screen and the draft that allows you to easily and quickly erase what was drawn within the video call tone. Shapes can also be included, but I have not given them a use as such, so it could be useful to another type of person with more creativity to give examples while sharing the screen to see slides.

Cons: 1.- The chat history is very limited with respect to how many years it can be stored within this software. I don't know if it was because of the drastic changes that Skype has undergone, but over time I have lost countless conversations with colleagues and employees at work. Data loss is critical because that information can be vital later on and if you don't have it, it can be detrimental not to have it. So for the chat I have used other platforms that do keep my conversations for life or until I decide to delete them.

2.-The interface has not changed much for a long time, therefore many acquaintances have chosen to use other video call software such as Zoom for the ease and simplicity of use that it can provide. Skype has always been reliable and stable, however it should be modernized more so that when making a video call or voice calls it is more comfortable and not with features that are no longer used.

3.- The video becomes blurry even with the best internet connection, it seems that the buffer is not optimized when the person who is in the video call moves very fast. In addition, if there is a bad internet connection, the video freezes, including the audio, which does not happen with many other software that generally only freeze the image to prioritize the connection to the audio without losing the video call.

4.- Sharing screens with others is not very optimized, it just hangs most of the time and you have to restart or have delays when the user is doing something on the computer or while I am using the annotation pen. This frustrates me a lot because I have to resort to TeamViewer for this task since Skype does not do it perfectly being installed on Windows knowing that both come from Microsoft so the compatibility and stability with remote desktop should be great but it is not.

5.- The files have a limit of size and time in which they are in Skype, as well as the problem of the conversations that are not maintained over time, the same happens with the files and this is annoying because if I want to have that file of a specific chat and a long time has passed, I simply will not have it. This feature of sharing files through Skype would only be if I want to pass files to another user quickly and not exceed the maximum size allowed.

Overall: I use Skype for business to be able to communicate with the company's employees since we all use this software so we don't need to move to another software to avoid learning processes at the time of implementation. The plans to enjoy Skype for Business have been very accessible, even with the revenue for calls and messages, they have been quite accessible since I use it frequently and it has seemed like a very good option. I have been able to send company-related files with other employees instantly. I have also been able to schedule group video calls when I need to call a meeting. It was helpful for me to be able to have Skype on any device or operating system because I can have a video or voice call with employees anytime I need it.

    "Cluttered and complex to use."

    Edited 2022-01-11

Pros: - Skype helps in connecting with people through chat, audio and video in part of the world.
    - Along with conferencing, it also lets the user exchange files and documents during calls.
    - The navigation animation makes the navigating within the application smooth and fluid.
    - It easily integrates with other Microsoft's application making it a great tool to use especially on Windows computers.

Cons: - The user interface of the application feels very cluttered, instead of introducing more and more features they should focus on improving the key features like audio-video quality and user experience.

Overall: Skype is a conferencing application with abundance of features aside from the key features like audio and video conferencing. It is robust and secure to use.

    "Best tool for Video Conferencing."

    Edited 2021-07-24

Pros: It helps in connecting with my staff and stakeholders remotely. Easily available and wide usage tool in the market. File Sharing, collaboration, meeting scheduler, Screen Sharing, Audio etc are some of the features which are generally used day by day. Its interface is very easy to handle and provide all tools display systematically.

Cons: Call rates for some countries are on higher side. Microsoft ID is required for login. Sometimes due to low signal strength, video conference is blurred and audio has humming noise. Support team is very good however and take the resolutions at the earliest.

Overall: Overall Skype has done good for the market for connecting possibilities and sharing features in the current scenario. Its simple interface helps to use the features at the best and sharing of files is also very easy. Its usage very low bandwidth and quality of sound and video is very good.

"Skype allows you to increase direct communication with your customers"

    Posted 2021-03-17

Pros: It is a very useful work tool, it allows communication in real time, which facilitates any consultation, demonstration, question or doubt, when doing a job or proposing an activity to be done. It can be communicated with a particular person or with an audience, so that all our consultants or customers have or handle the same information. Videoconferencing, data transmission and general communication are very important for our company, as it is a very effective way to stay connected at all times, this tool was ideal to meet that need, it has a great reach in communications.

Cons: In case of a major problem, there is no way to quickly talk to someone in support immediately. Instead, we have a forum and, in some exceptional cases, we are allowed to send an email to support, but never a phone call.

Overall: Skype is the best platform since it not only allows us to make phone calls, but also video calls and to be able to see and interact with our company's advisors or clients. For us it is the best method of communication.

"Great optimization for calls but little optimization for file transfers."

    Posted 2021-02-27

Pros: In our company, the general communication of all employees and also communication with customers is extremely important. Skype has been a very effective platform to develop a totally stable communication between different work groups or with a group of clients. What I like the most about Skype is that it is a platform that gives me excellent video quality when I make video calls to my work colleagues or video calls to my clients, this video quality has been one of the best I've seen, since It allows me to have fluid communication and it also allows me to have a perfect visualization of the participants of the video call. In addition, I also like the fact that I can use Skype from my cell phone and be able to make calls from anywhere, this application is completely optimized, it allows me to continue on the call that is in progress even when I change applications, that means that I can make use of more applications while I participate in the call in progress. This application also allows me to make video calls without having an internet connection with such high speed, it is enough to have an internet speed of approximately 6mb, so that Skype works perfectly and the call can be fluent.

Cons: The strongest negative criticism I have about Skype is regarding the file transaction system. I previously mentioned the excellent ability of this platform to keep us in touch and allow us to interact more often within the company or with customers, however, I have had a very bad experience in the file transaction. Each video call or call has a button where files or images can be shared with the participants of the video call, and these files will be reflected in the upper part of the video call so that all participants have quick access, however, the process Uploading of the files is too late, all the files that I have tried to upload take minutes and minutes to be completely uploaded and then be shared with the other participants. I would like Skype to offer me a much faster file transaction, which does not take as long to process the files as it is somewhat annoying.

Overall: My overall experience with Skype has been fair. In our company it is absolutely necessary to be able to transfer files during each call or video call, as this complements it, and makes the video call more satisfactory. My experience in video calls has been really good, since I have had the ability to communicate in a stable way with anyone no matter where that person is, however, I hope to have a more complete experience when Skype optimizes the system file transaction. The Skype UI is totally comfortable, both in its version for computers and in its version for mobile phones, it is a UI that can be used without feeling any discomfort, and all the sections are completely ordered so that the user can have a more comfortable experience. simple. I hope that Skype can optimize that small negative detail that it has, since it is an excellent platform, with great potential to communicate with various business entities.

"General communication for all work teams."

    Posted 2021-02-09

Pros: Skype is one of the platforms that provides the best communication for all work teams. One of the features that I liked the most about Skype is that this platform offers me great quality when making calls, excellent video quality and also excellent audio quality. Skype works excellent with my internet connection, it is able to allow me to speak with anyone fluently, as if that person were next to me. Another feature that I liked about Skype is that its application for mobile phones is surprising, this application keeps any video conference or call active while we carry out any other activity on the mobile phone. In addition, it has an excellent chat window, which I can use to get in more direct contact during the call or video conference that is taking place.

Cons: I did not like at all the service of calls to landlines, or VoIP calls that Skype offers, since to use the service of calls to landlines, you must top up your balance or "Skype credits". I would like to be able to enjoy this service for free, since there any many other platforms that offer a VoIP call service at no cost and with good optimization. I would like to have that service without having to pay for those Skype credits, as Skype is my favorite platform for online communication. I believe that this platform does not have negative characteristics, they should only improve the VoIP call service.

Overall: The general experience I had with Skype has been quite good, this platform is too easy to use, with just a few clicks I can start a call with someone or I can also make videoconferences with several colleagues from my work team, or videoconferences with the clients. I consider that Skype is a fairly fluid platform in its video calling and video conferencing system, it offers a great video quality that very few platforms currently offer and it also allows the user to interact through a chat system that works in real time and complements communication of all users. This platform has kept me in contact with my work colleagues, we have been able to hold various meetings thanks to Skype and we have also been able to have several hours of conversation via camera thanks to this platform.

    "Interface fleucny and communication stability."

    Posted 2021-02-03

Pros: What I like the most about Skype is that it is a platform that provides me with a perfect video quality for each video call or each video conference that I'm making, this has allowed me to have good visibility of all the participants of each video conference. In addition, another feature that I like is that Skype provides me with a highly optimized chat system during each video conference, this has allowed me to interact in several ways at the same time.

Cons: Something I really hate about Skype is its mobile app on my Android device. This mobile app is very poorly optimized, because it does not allow me to continue in the call or videoconference if I minimize the app or if I enter another application. I wish I could continue to enjoy Skype while doing other activities on my cell phone.

Overall: From 1 to 10, my overall experience would be an 8. I think that Skype has performed very well in its application for computers, because it has allowed me to communicate with all my co-workers and has also provided me with really stable communication, however, I think they should improve the mobile application to be able to have a similar performance to my experience from the computer. Skype was very easy to use and the fluidity of its interface was really impressive.

    "Great experience using this application."

    Posted 2020-12-03

Pros: There are so many pros to mention here like:
    - It is very easy to understand and use this application and its functions.
    - Different emojis and functions makes it enjoyable to chat with anyone.
    - You can share your screen and share any files, the best thing about this application.
    - It has a very great video and audio quality.
    - During this pandemic it helps us to connect all over the world.
    - I also like the Do NotDisturb and other features in this application, makes it easy to work without getting disturb.

Cons: There are few cons to be noted like:
    - It has a very old type of design and functions to perform on, should focus new functions and design.
    - Sometime lags, makes my computer slow.

Overall: Overall this application is very useful for making online video calls, sharing files while doing video chat and while doing work.
But there are many other applications which gives you same or better experience.

Pros: High quality video feed without lag.
    Low system requirements.
    Easy to set it up.
Cross Platforms support for almost all leading platforms.

Cons: Needs a stable connection to work, the feed can be broken otherwise.

Overall: There might be better video conferencing platforms in the recent times but Skype still remains the go to when you have to make some personal video calls to friends and family.

    "Essential to Staying Connected "

    Posted 2020-06-27

Pros: Skype has been essential to keeping connected to family and friends across the world, which is more important now than ever. It has provided an easy to use platform to keep in touch with any family members, young and old, and makes it easy by not requiring passwords, call in numbers, etc.

Cons: Connection can be an issue at times, but that is mostly on the user to make sure they have a good internet connection. This is not fault of the program.

Overall: While other online programs have gained popularity in the recent months given the state of the world, Skype remains the go to platform for keeping in contact with family and friends.
