Independent restaurants, coffee shops, and cafes: owner-operators and managers
About ShelfCount
ShelfCount gives independent restaurants the inventory and COGS toolkit that usually costs $250+ a month, for a flat $50. Counts happen on whatever phone your staff already carry: open a link, count the shelf, done. No app to install, no per-seat logins. Snap a photo of an invoice and ShelfCount reads it; you approve every price change before it touches your numbers. Recipes and prep recipes recost automatically whenever an ingredient price moves, and par levels turn a finished count into a vendor-ready purchase order in one click. Connect Square or Clover (Toast in certification) and sales flow in automatically, so theoretical vs. actual COGS shows exactly where margin is leaking. Built by a restaurant owner. One plan, unlimited team members and locations, month-to-month, 14-day free trial with no credit card.

"Excellent for small cafe" Posted 2026-08-25
Pros: We've been using ShelfCount for about 1-2 months now and it's absolutely awesome. We switched from Marketman (at 250 bucks a month) and are now paying a fraction of that without the buggy app that Marketman uses.
Shelfcount essentially has the exact same functionality, but it improved on a lot of things like an auto-save for inventory counts (most of our staff have ADHD so they get easily distracted and this helps).Cons: Currently no Toast integration. They support Square and Clover, but Toast is still "to be announced". Might have to switch POS systems just for that lol
Overall: Overall, super happy with ShelfCount as our new inventory management software. It shows us everything "the big guys" do like counts, theoretical usage vs actual usage, waste management, purchase orders and even a free scheduling tool for staff they just added. Happily recommend!
