Checkwise verifies factual claims and returns a verdict backed by the sources it actually used, rather than an unexplained confidence score. A claim can be submitted as plain text, as the URL of an article, or checked against a live video while it plays. For each check, Checkwise searches for evidence, reads the pages it finds, and reports a verdict per source together with the passage that supports it. Every source carries a reliability grade from A to D, computed before the check from criteria such as editorial rigour, correction practices, transparency of ownership and funding, and reputation. The grading methodology is published, and each graded site has a public page explaining its grade, so an editorial team can trace why a verdict came out the way it did and contest a grade. Available as a web application, a browser extension for Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Brave, and a REST API for teams running checks inside their own editorial or moderation pipeline.
