Whenever an activity takes place in the company, it is assigned to a unique process instance, the 'Cases'. All relevant transaction data of this process are saved in log files by the ERP system - the 'event logs'. A minimal event log consists of the following three information. If this information is available, you can start right away. The case identifier links all events of a concrete business case to a unique sequence. The activity name describes which process step was executed. The timestamp describes at what time a certain activity took place.
