About

Sumatra PDF is a free PDF, eBook (ePub, Mobi), XPS, DjVu, CHM, Comic Book (CBZ and CBR) reader for Windows. Sumatra PDF is powerful, small, portable and starts up very fast. Simplicity of the user interface has a high priority. PDF readers have, over the years, managed to earn themselves something of a reputation for being slow, lumbering beasts - thanks largely to Adobe Reader. Sumatra PDF bucks the trend. It is small, svelte, lightweight and lightning fast.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • I was HOPING this would be the lightest thing around BUT since it can't DISPLAY PDFs PROPERLY, it is useless. Stick with Sumatra or FoxIt

Cons

  • AWFUL PDF DISPLAY - totally UNACCEPTABLE This whole point to a PDF Reader is to be able to READ PDF files and they MUST DISPLAY PROPERLY. This software is garbage. Don't waste your time. STICK WITH SUMATRA OR FOXIT - both are fine.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • Folks at adobe should learn coding from these guys. I gave up on Adobe Reader as: 1. Its scrolling speed was less than satisfactory at zoom level other than 100%, for long pdf files, for graphic heavy pdf files with images and/or mathematical notations. 2. It would always reduce document window space in by incorporating various toolbars to the right/bottom at opening time. 3. It would also not remember last opened page view by default. 4. Shameless popups of adobe paid services and digital signature warnings. Sumatra PDF does not have any of these problems.
  • Free and open source. Minimal User Interface - Easy to use. Supports pdf, epub, mobi and other formats. Low memory usage and quick to load files. Portable software.

Cons

  • Advanced settings opens a notepad file, containing sensitive settings, that, if edited incorrectly, may break the program. Would be better to make it a GUI based menu.
  • Doesn't support editing. The design is outdated (No annotations as well).
