About

Siteward is a self-hosted WordPress management dashboard for agencies, freelancers and developers managing sites at scale. Monitor uptime with retry-then-alert, run core, plugin and theme updates across a fleet with live progress, track UpdraftPlus backups and WP-Cron health, and detect critical errors with the culprit plugin or theme named. It checks versions against a live vulnerability feed with severity and CVE, free and without an API key. The dashboard and child plugin pair over a one-time secure handshake; every request is OpenSSL-signed and nothing routes through a third-party cloud. Siteward is free for unlimited sites, with Agency at $129/year or $15/month and Lifetime at $399. There are no per-site fees.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • cPanel provides a broad set of tools for managing websites, domains, email accounts, databases and server settings in one place. It is widely supported by hosting providers, and experienced users may appreciate the large ecosystem, documentation and integrations available around the product.

Cons

  • The price is my main issue. The licensing cost feels too high compared with the value and improvements I receive. The 2026 direct pricing starts at $29.99 per month for one account and reaches $69.99 per month for Premier, with an additional per-account fee above 100 accounts. This makes the product increasingly difficult to justify, especially for smaller projects or servers with several accounts. The interface also feels dated and overloaded in some areas. Navigation is not always intuitive, and basic tasks can require moving through too many sections. cPanel’s own user survey shows repeated requests for UI modernization, better mobile responsiveness, improved backup management and a native firewall. I was also concerned by the recent critical authentication vulnerability. According to cPanel, it could allow an unauthenticated request to be treated as authenticated, while government security authorities confirmed active exploitation and possible remote code execution. Although patches were released, an incident of this scale reduced my confidence in the product.
