About

Quiver is a notebook built for programmers. It lets you easily mix text, code, Markdown and LaTeX within one note, edit code with an awesome code editor, live preview Markdown and LaTeX, and find any note instantly via the full-text search. A note in Quiver is comprised of cells, snippets of text, code, Markdown, LaTeX (via MathJax) or diagrams (sequence diagram, flowchart). You can freely mix different cell types within one note. You can set different languages for different code cells, too. The programmer's notebook should make code editing effortless. Quiver packs the awesome ACE code editor in code cells, with syntax highlighting support for more than 120 languages, over 20 themes, automatic indent and outdent, and much more. Quiver lets you write in Markdown with inline formatting and custom CSS options. A live preview window renders Markdown as you type. Quiver uses MathJax to typeset mathematical equations written in LaTeX.

About

SQL Notebooks allow developers to write Markdown combined with SQL to produce live HTML5 reports. They offer a lightning-fast, modern HTML5 interface where data sources are queried in real time. Users can create beautiful, live-updating SQL notebooks, easily source control the code, and take static snapshots to share with colleagues who don't have database access. SQL Notebooks are available in both QStudio Version 4, a desktop SQL client based on editing markdown files locally, and Pulse Version 3, which serves as a shared team server accessible via a web address. To help users get started, a showcase of example notebooks has been created in collaboration with leading community members; these examples are snapshotted versions with static data, and the source markdown and most of the data to recreate them are available on GitHub.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • Brilliant app, best note taking app for developers. Nothing comes close other than maybe Obsidian and Joplin, but Quiver has them both beat.

Cons

  • App has not been updated to work with Mac's next gen OS (MacOS 27+)
