About

PDF Architect is a Windows-based PDF editor and document processing solution that supports the entire PDF lifecycle, including creation, text editing, file conversion, page management, OCR, form handling, security, and e-signatures. Designed for business environments, it offers an Admin Portal for centralized license and user management and integrates directly with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. For business and enterprise environments, PDF Architect offers centralized license management via an Admin Portal, where IT or operations teams can allocate seats, manage users, and control feature access across departments. It integrates with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), so employees can generate and edit PDFs from tools they already use daily. The solution scales from single-user workstations to multi-user rollouts, supported by volume licensing from about 10 seats upward.

About

PDF stands for Portable Document Format and it was created by Adobe to ease document exchange. doPDF is a free PDF printer that does what the name suggests, creates PDF files. Once installed it will allow you to convert any type of printable documents to PDF files. doPDF installs itself as a virtual PDF printer driver so after a successful installation will appear in your Printers and Faxes list and also in the list of All Programs. Using doPDF you can convert to PDF in two ways: Print to PDF via the virtual printer driver doPDF. You would do this exactly as you print to a regular printer, just the result will be a PDF file, not a printed piece of paper. Using the doPDF Startup window. doPDF has an executable file (accessible from the start program group) that you can run in order to start a conversion wizard.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • With Acrobat I always felt like I was fighting with it for control of how I use it, finding what I want. Acrobat tries to steer me all the time to what it thinks I want to do, and then pay more for some extra thing I want to do. With PDF Architect everything is exactly where I would expect it to be on the screen, but most importantly I feel I am in total control of which tools I use and how I use them. It is so well designed! I especially love the easy to use mark up tools, completely flexible and intuitive. Additionally I had a need for help with renewing to a different level, and I got very prompt and totally customer centered help. Support has been great.
  • Prior to using this program I had used others on the market, I find this program is good and user friendly also the support is very good.
  • In general the program works fine and it is a user friendly program. It has extensive options. You can extend it with modules such as secure and sign, which now also has new features.
  • I use PDF Architect to add fields to my pdf's, so people can fill them in and send them back. And I can let people add there signature.
  • I like to work with program, the functions it has. It's easy to use and it works what I need.

Cons

  • Sorry, can't think of any. There have been occasional small bugs but they seem to be taken care of pretty quickly as they disappear in the next version.
  • Nothing negative to add. I find this program has a lot to offer if your are an extensive user.
  • Every year some functionalities suddenly become unavailable. Then we need to contact support to resolve the issue. This happens too often and not at the time of a contract extension.
  • I'm hoping for an upgrade that the program would detect a table and changes it into a form automatically in 1 action. Now I have to add each field by myself and that takes quite some time.
  • Well, the changes in licesing models always bring us - the users problems Everytime it happened. The support was impossible to find on the website. If I hadn't have previous e-mails i'd be stuck.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • doPDF has been my go-to print-to-pdf software for many years until my Windows 7 computer finally died in October 2021. Over the years, I tested several other similar products with less than stellar results. No matter what I created in MS Office, Open Office, CorelDraw, Adobe Photoshop, GIMP, etc., doPDF faithfully reproduced the original file in pdf format. When I shared files with others, I never had any complaints about how the doPDF file rendered in whatever pdf reader the recipient was using. No matter how off-the-wall the fonts I embedded, fine screens, graduations, backgrounds, vector graphics, custom colors - all rendered exactly as the various programs with which they were created with zero issues. I did side-by-side printout comparisons of the original files versus the pdfs created by doPDF and was very pleased with the results.

Cons

  • There was nothing I did not like about doPDF. It did exactly what it was supposed to do - print to pdf. It's an elegant, streamlined software that consistently exceeded my expectations.
