Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • I've tried various other "usual suspect" DAWs, but I keep coming back to MixPad, and its optional companion WavePad. Very intuitive, easy GUI to work with. OK, maybe not as technically featured as Ableton, but honestly, unless I needed very specific tech functions to develop a project, MixPad covers 90% of the types of features and options I usually use. It's quick, modest resource consumption, very easy to get started even if you've never used a DAW before, and certainly very affordable. Studio One, for example, does have some interesting tech features, but even just to get started requires jumping through multiple flaming hoops to "hear" your first track.
  • Ease of use. No pushing you to buy all features work well. Simple clear but by no means lacking. Couldn’t ask for more.

Cons

  • The one unwanted "feature" I have noticed with MixPad is there seems no way to avoid an apparent internal signal amplitude limiting, the consequence of which is that if there are multiple tracks with strong signals, the entire production drops in volume, resulting in sometimes weird unwanted modulation of the mix. A lot of time has vanished into trying to "balance" all the different tracks in a production edit so they can work together without that modulation. My productions usually have 12 - 16 tracks, sometimes with somewhat unusual mixes to create the desired outcome.
  • None the only con is there is no con it’s that simple.
