About

The purpose of Linux Mint is to produce a modern, elegant and comfortable operating system which is both powerful and easy to use. Linux Mint is one of the most popular desktop Linux distributions and used by millions of people. It works out of the box, with full multimedia support and is extremely easy to use. It's both free of cost and open source. It's community-driven. Users are encouraged to send feedback to the project so that their ideas can be used to improve Linux Mint. It's safe and reliable. Thanks to a conservative approach to software updates, a unique Update Manager and the robustness of its Linux architecture, Linux Mint requires very little.

About

Void is a general purpose operating system, based on the monolithic Linux kernel. Its package system allows you to quickly install, update and remove software; software is provided in binary packages or can be built directly from sources with the help of the XBPS source packages collection. It is available for a variety of platforms. Software packages can be built natively or cross compiled through the XBPS source packages collection. Unlike trillions of other existing distros, Void is not a modification of an existing distribution. Void's package manager and build system have been written from scratch. Void Linux supports both the musl and GNU libc implementations, patching incompatible software when necessary and working with upstream developers to improve the correctness and portability of their projects.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • Easy to use, manage and very flexible. Everything (in most cases) is running flawlessly out of the box.
  • - Easy to use - Amazing intro into Linux - Fast with little overhead
  • 1. Super Fast. 2. Customized ubuntu so large collection of software. 3. Store works better than ubuntu store. 4. Fully Customizable.(100% except kernel that also you can do from source code) 5. Light Weight. 6. Easy to use. 7. Installing websites as apps natively.

Cons

  • In some cases, you need to use the terminal for accomplishing and sorting out things.
  • - May need to learn terminal commands depending on use - Compatibility poorer than windows - May not integrate with certain windows enterprise solutions
  • 1. Basic software such as Cheese (Camera) not there. 2. After setup need to change some boot options which can be confusing for new comers. 3. Does not have some multimedia codecs preinstalled. 4. Does not have the property wireless driver installed while installation of Linux Mint. 5. No basic animations (but this increases speed)

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • -Cutting edge -XPBS installer is easy to learn as it follows Arch's Pacman commands closely -RunIt init system instead of SystemD. - Can install via Calimares or CMD - Musl or Glibc
  • I used 3-4 years Arc Linux by the way. Then I decided to use Void Linux. It is fast, rolling release and stable.

Cons

  • -No AUR -New distro=less programs -Musl isn't standard in Linux,BSD or Microsoft, it's the future but software programmers need to catch up to the new ways, as it's superior by a LARGE MARGIN.
  • Not famous as much as Arch Linux which deserves more. For that why sometimes you may face lack of documentary but if you have a general Linux knowledge you may overcome all problems.
