About

LibreOffice is a free and powerful office suite, and a successor to OpenOffice.org (commonly known as OpenOffice). Its clean interface and feature-rich tools help you unleash your creativity and enhance your productivity. LibreOffice is Free and Open Source Software. Development is open to new talent and new ideas, and our software is tested and used daily by a large and devoted user community. Your documents will look professional and clean, regardless of their purpose: a letter, a master thesis, a brochure, financial reports, marketing presentations, technical drawings and diagrams. LibreOffice makes your work look great while you focus on the content, thanks to its powerful styles system and structuring tools. LibreOffice is compatible with a wide range of document formats such as Microsoft® Word (.doc, .docx), Excel (.xls, .xlsx), PowerPoint (.ppt, .pptx) and Publisher. But LibreOffice goes much further with its native support for a modern and open standard.

About

ReactOS is an operating system. Our own main features are that ReactOS is able to run Windows software, and it is also able to run Windows drivers. ReactOS looks-like Windows, and it is free and open source. ReactOS is a free and open source operating system written from scratch. Its design is based on Windows in the same way Linux is based on Unix, however ReactOS is not Linux. ReactOS looks and feels like Windows, is able to your run all your Windows applications and software, as well as all your Windows drivers, and is familiar to Windows users. You can create your own ReactOS versions! You’re using Open Source software daily if you use Firefox, LibreOffice, OpenOffice, GNU-Linux distributions among zillions of Open Source projects out there. The Open Source projects, as ReactOS, are driven for and by its Community, so being active translating, donating, or coding is a way to help ReactOS boost forward.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • Document editing is a breeze. Contains many basic functions found in MS Office. The install, startup, and compatibility with various documents seems to be higher here compared to Apache OpenOffice.

Cons

  • Similar to OpenOffice, the user interface is outdated, though slightly fresher.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • I've no doubt they added a Windows XP-theme to it, but I'd like the ability to choose Interface colors such as Red, School-Bus Orange, Yellow, Lime, Green, Turquoise, Windows-XP Blue, Blue-Violet, Violet(not synonymous with Purple), Pink, Vintage-Beige, Chocolate Brown, Carbon-Fiber Black, Windows-XP Silver & Copy-Paper White to apply.
  • Well, it's free, and the OS can run a lot of stuff, like the game Skyrim and Microsoft Office. I also managed to use it to print and to use photoshop.

Cons

  • The Alpha-stage email updates! Why don't more people with fatter wallets than mine pitch in so that ReactOS can reach Beta-stage already, it's already 2023 and I want a finished product THIS YEAR!
  • It's hard to set up a workgroup or a domestic network, but take this with a grain of salt since it's a work in progress. ReactOS is a work in progress and it's at the level of Windows Vista, maybe windows 7 at best, but it will be a long time before it can be as responsive as windows 10/11.
