About

Jarq is a Mac utility that lets users translate, shorten, fix, rewrite, or dictate text directly where the cursor is, without switching tabs or copying and pasting between apps. Select text in almost any Mac app and contextual buttons appear beside it, allowing the selection to be replaced in place or copied for later use. Users can translate between 13 supported languages, with natural wording that preserves tone rather than relying on literal word-for-word translation. Custom actions can also be created from plain-language instructions such as “shorten this,” “fix the grammar,” or “make it formal,” turning frequently used requests into one-click buttons. Jarq also supports dictation: press a hotkey, speak, and polished text with punctuation and capitalization appears at the cursor in apps such as Slack, Mail, browsers, Figma, terminals, and IDEs. Spoken input can be translated into another language as it is typed.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • The interface is very well done and has many features. The assistant mode is really a game changer for me. It's really more than just dictation. It really allows me to work faster, performing quick web searches and stuff like that. I really I have almost become lazy now and I can hardly imagine going back to just working with a simple keyboard. The team is also responsive. They fixed a small issue I had and reported within a couple of days.

Cons

  • I wish it was available on mobile and mac because I use different operating systems for work and home. Team told me it's on the roadmap but "no ETA" apparently.
