About

JAMS Incident Management makes sure the right person knows when something breaks, then keeps escalating through voice, SMS, push, email, Microsoft Teams, and Slack until someone acknowledges it. Alerts can come from monitoring tools, email, webhooks, or the API, so it works with any team and any stack. Where most alerting tools stop at notifying, this one can also act: a responder can restart, continue, or cancel a failed job directly from the alert, and acknowledging it updates the source system automatically, so nothing gets tracked twice. JAMS Scheduler is not required, but a failed job can open an incident automatically for teams that use it. On-call gaps are expensive because they compound quietly: a missed alert becomes a longer outage, and a longer outage becomes lost trust. The reason to look at this now is the gap between detecting a problem and getting a human to fix it, which is exactly where most incidents actually go wrong.

About

Nagios Core is the monitoring and alerting engine that serves as the primary application around which hundreds of Nagios projects are built. Nagios Core serves as the basic event scheduler, event processor, and alert manager for elements that are monitored. It features several APIs that are used to extend its capabilities to perform additional tasks, is implemented as a daemon written in C for performance reasons, & is designed to run natively on Linux/*nix systems. Alerts with escalation capabilities are delivered to IT staff via email and SMS to ensure fast detection of outages. Event handlers can automatically restart failed applications, servers, devices, and services when problems are found. Gain a centralized view of your entire IT operations and review detailed status information through the web interface.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • The online resources available make using Nagios a breeze. The installation was simple to do following documentation and online video tutorials.

Cons

  • Super busy website . Had to click more than one download button. But honestly that was the worst of it. Not bad.
