About

Horos is a free, open source medical image viewer for macOS designed to support the medical imaging community with a fully functional, 64-bit DICOM viewer. Built on OsiriX 5.8, Horos is intended for research, education, and non-diagnostic medical imaging use. It supports a wide range of DICOM files and includes powerful tools such as 2D/3D multi-planar reconstruction, surface and volume rendering, and maximum intensity projection. Horos enables users to view, import, and export studies, measure anatomical structures, annotate images, and apply filters or adjustments for better visualization. It also offers anonymization tools, DICOM Query/Retrieve from PACS servers, and support for plugins and scripting for advanced customization. The interface is intuitive and adaptable for both novice and experienced users, with integration options for teaching files and educational workflows.

About

VolView is an open source radiological viewer developed for clinical professionals, offering interactive, cinematic volume rendering to visualize DICOM data in 3D. Running directly in your web browser without the need for installation, it ensures data remains securely on your machine. VolView supports drag-and-drop functionality for DICOM files and provides high-quality, interactive 3D cinematic volume renderings. Users can choose from various coloring presets, adjust lighting and transparency, crop images, and interact with 3D data to gain deeper insights. The application includes standard 2D and 3D controls, measurement tools, and annotation features, with ongoing additions based on user feedback. As a local web application, VolView utilizes your machine's CPU, GPU, and disk resources for data processing and visualization, eliminating the need for servers or cloud services. Being open source, it is freely accessible to clinicians.
