Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • I like the $2000 template I bought and the design options are limitless, but there's a strong learning curve.
  • On one hand, there's adequate design freedom with this platform, which is it's biggest advantage. If you're good with design, shout will be a satisfying platform to work with.
  • For the free form single-landing page-only person, I can see this being a fun experiment, but ultimately this is NOT a robust platform. You will struggle to manage it in the long term and it is not scalable as your business grows.

Cons

  • Customer Service is horrible and they're aren't even sorry about it.
  • There is almost zero support when compared to competitors like Squarespace. If you're accustomed to using the Squarespace chat function and having people willing and able to help you learn the platform, Showit will put you in for a rude awakening. I needed to hide a page in advance of a product launch. I had to email a support person, and they got back to me 3 hours later. Their answer was, in essence: sorry, you can't do that. When I asked for a way to work around this or if they had any ideas, they didn't bother to respond. This is relevant because most people don't have time to learn a new platform from the ground up and become an expert. Squarespace at least provides the support necessary to help solve individual problems, and provides people who work with you. Showit, on the other hand, feels cheap in the sense that they leave you out in the cold. Additionally, there are just fewer resources available for learning the platform. There's guides of course, but with a company this size, one would think they'd understand they need to fill the gap between Squarespace and themselves - Squarespace is an enormous company and there's countless you tubers, bloggers, and resources available to learn to work with their program. Showit has barely anything available in comparison, resulting in frustrating setback after frustrating setback as you try to learn the new software. Why they wouldn't invest more in educational resources, or as mentioned above (!) individual customer support, is beyond me.
  • This web editor was extremely frustrating. It's for advanced users only who understand the implications of complete design freedom on the page. Doubles the work for desktop and mobile views, terrible (no) form features with only free text one option for field types, no standard spacing, every element must be rearranged if there are changes to content. This is honestly the worst web builder I've used outside of Wordpress.
