About

Developers are much more productive on Ubuntu than handcrafted embedded Linux. Sharing a platform shares the cost. Licensing is cheaper, updates more tested and maintenance shared. Familiar and widely used Ubuntu means easy CI/CD, better tools, faster updates and better kernels. Linux is not a differentiator. Use pre-enabled boards and focus on software unique to your story. Managing a familiar environment and platform is easier and cheaper than a specialist OS. Naturally. More Linux developers choose Ubuntu, so the talent pool is deeper and broader. Tap the biggest talent pool. Ubuntu is ahead of the pack by every measure. Productivity starts with reuse. Accelerate developers with the world’s largest package selection.

About

Linux Mint is a free, open-source Linux operating system designed to provide a user-friendly, secure, and customizable desktop experience for personal and professional computing. The distribution is primarily based on Ubuntu and offers Cinnamon, MATE, and Xfce desktop environments to accommodate different hardware capabilities and user preferences. Linux Mint includes preinstalled applications for web browsing, office productivity, multimedia playback, file management, and everyday computing. Its Software Manager provides access to thousands of applications, while the Update Manager simplifies software maintenance and security updates. Built-in system snapshot capabilities through Timeshift allow users to restore previous system states when configuration changes or updates cause problems. Linux Mint supports software development, gaming, business productivity, and multimedia creation, making it a practical alternative to Microsoft Windows and macOS.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • Easy to use, manage and very flexible. Everything (in most cases) is running flawlessly out of the box.
  • - Easy to use - Amazing intro into Linux - Fast with little overhead
  • 1. Super Fast. 2. Customized ubuntu so large collection of software. 3. Store works better than ubuntu store. 4. Fully Customizable.(100% except kernel that also you can do from source code) 5. Light Weight. 6. Easy to use. 7. Installing websites as apps natively.

Cons

  • In some cases, you need to use the terminal for accomplishing and sorting out things.
  • - May need to learn terminal commands depending on use - Compatibility poorer than windows - May not integrate with certain windows enterprise solutions
  • 1. Basic software such as Cheese (Camera) not there. 2. After setup need to change some boot options which can be confusing for new comers. 3. Does not have some multimedia codecs preinstalled. 4. Does not have the property wireless driver installed while installation of Linux Mint. 5. No basic animations (but this increases speed)
