About DevPod is an open source tool for creating and managing reproducible developer environments as code without a heavyweight server-side setup. It uses the open devcontainer.json standard to define each workspace, so projects can carry their development environment with them and deliver a consistent experience across teams. Workspaces run in separate containers and can be created on a local laptop, a reachable remote machine, a Kubernetes cluster, or public and private cloud infrastructure through DevPod providers. Developers can switch between local and cloud-powered environments while managing every workspace in the same way. DevPod is client-only and available as both a desktop application and a programmable CLI, with no backend service required.
