About

Codebahn is a fast and private GitHub alternative. Fast, private Git and CI. No scanning, no training. Built for your terminal and your LLM. Swedish company, EU-only infrastructure. Repos, CI, issues, container registry, CLI, and MCP server. If GitHub has sixty features, Codebahn has six. Privacy is architectural. Every repo is private, enforced in code. No training pipeline, no telemetry, no tracking. No US entity in the data path. CI that grows with your team. Solo €9/month. Crew €9/seat + €10/team. Builds pause at your cap, never overage-billed. One-click export, no lock-in. Built on Forgejo (GPL-3.0). Not for everyone. Private repos only, no free tier. Running since June 2026 with paying customers.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • 1. Easy and reliable version controlling. 2. Robust CI/CD pipeline. 3. Supports integration with various third-party applications. 4. Intuitive and user-friendly user interface. 5. Easy to use push, pull, commit and merge functionalities. 6. Free for personal use.
  • - The best thing about using GitHub as a version controlling platform is the amount of third-party integration it supports. - It gives a step-by-step tutorial to create a repository and push code on it. - It is free for personal and unlimited amount of private repos can be made. - It also allows to host website builds on its platforms for free.
  • - Specific access roles can be assigned to users. - It is free for personal use. - Creating a new repository is easy because of the detailed step-by-step tutorial. - It is reliable and secure to host private repositories. - Merge conflicts can solve directly from the UI.
  • 1. GitHub is one of the most popular sites to host code repositories and version controlling of the projects. 2. The user interface of the application is clean yet feature-rich. 3. The platform is free for personal use, which makes it pretty useful for student and freshers starting out coding. 4. It can be integrated with almost any application available.
  • These are the best part about GitHub- 1. The outsider reconciliations with GitHub are extraordinary. Azure permits us to associate straight forwardly to the GitHub repo and constantly send our code as the expert branch gets refreshed. 2. Pull demand interface takes into consideration code survey, reinforcing the designing group culture and making a way for junior engineers to develop and turn out to be more useful. 3. While managing an undertaking, utilizing GitHub to see the contrasts between a specialist's branch and expert aides the designer work productively and viably.

Cons

  • 1. I did not find any major con in the application.
  • - The user interface is a bit complex and can be tricky for beginners initially.
  • - The user interface is complex to use. - Deleting a folder or a project is a difficult and time taking process. Great tool for version controlling, but complex.
  • 1. Unless you use a git client, it is quite hard to wrap your head around it initially because of the complex commands for pushing, pulling and resolving merge conflicts.
  • These are some demerits - 1. Exchanging and overseeing branches is complicated and not excessively instinctive. 2. Downloading a specific record from the source tree is awkward and it is quite often simpler to download a speed of the whole branch. Not great.
