About

When you start developing with PHP, you face the problem of deciding which IDE to choose. Most companies sell their IDE's for high prices ($100-$500). We, on the other hand, offer a multifunctional portable IDE absolutely FREE with all these standard features: PHP/HTML/CSS/JavaScript highlighting; advanced PHP/HTML/CSS/JavaScript autocomplete; a powerful PHP debugger; context and dynamic Help; a code validator; a SQL manager and much more. CodeLobster IDE streamlines and simplifies the PHP development process. You don't need to keep in mind the names of functions, arguments, tags or their attributes we've implemented all these for you with autocomplete features for PHP, HTML, JavaScript and even CSS. And you can always get necessary help information by pressing F1 or using the special Help control. An internal free PHP Debugger allows you to validate your code locally.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • Portable and free version. Supports CMS like Joomla, Wordpress, Drupal. Smart autocomplete feature. Extensive plugin support. Interactive Debugger.

Cons

  • User Interface is not impressive. Steep learning curve for beginners.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • It's free and open-source, extremely fast start-up times, uses very little memory, and surprisingly customizable (I barely did any myself though; I wanted to keep it light). I find it useful for swiftly taking notes at a moment's notice, but I have also used it to quickly peek through config files, source code, or even certain text documents--they all just work. As a user who swaps between Windows and Linux, it being cross-platform is such a huge plus for me, and is the leading reason why I use it over Notepad++. As much as I like tinkering with software and hardware alike, I also don't want to find out that certain features I use regularly on one OS's notepad don't exist on other OS's notepads, even some third-party ones. It's just some peace of mind.

Cons

  • It lags for ~1 sec when it wraps text for the first time since the app was opened. Even after using this app for over a year, I still find the logo hard to identify as a text editor of any kind. I still have to tell people who borrow my laptop that my notepad app is this, even when it's pinned to the taskbar and start menu.
