Cons Brackets is a good tool for web programming, although its language support might not be as extensive as that of more complete integrated development environments (IDEs). Syntax highlighting for every language I ever tried, code folding, custom tabs/spaces. Updates are easy and it gets syntax packages automatically if you open/save a new file type. Hybrid view of markdown, special characters and formatting both shown. Cons It's not an IDE, you won't get much help beyond auto closing brackets and quotes.
