About

specgit is a visual editor for teams writing together in GitHub. It handles Git so product managers, UX researchers, technical writers, and teammates can write and format docs as they would in a document editor. Each save becomes a commit under the writer's GitHub name. Teammates can edit the same file live and leave inline comments. When a doc is ready, specgit opens a pull request for engineers to review in GitHub. Review reads the whole doc and leaves comments; Triage fixes them and closes the threads. Nothing changes until you approve it. Teams can also use specgit with Obsidian vaults; saved files retain Obsidian's exact format. GitHub remains the source of truth, and specgit does not keep copies of documents or comments. The Free plan includes one repository and five publishes per month, with no credit card required. Pro costs $8 per editing seat per month; viewing and commenting are always free.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • I've used several documentation tools over the years, but Archbee is one of the best. It’s fast, intuitive, and makes collaboration a breeze. ✅ Super Intuitive & Fast – The interface is clean and modern, making it really easy to use. Everything just works smoothly, without lag or clunky navigation. ✅ Amazing Collaboration Features – Real-time editing, inline commenting, and version history make teamwork seamless. I can easily work with my team on technical docs, wikis, and knowledge bases without any confusion. ✅ Perfect for Developers – As someone who deals with API documentation, I love that Archbee supports Markdown and integrates well with OpenAPI/Swagger. It saves me so much time! ✅ Highly Customizable – Embedding diagrams, videos, and code snippets is effortless, making my documentation more interactive and engaging. ✅ Lightning-Fast Search – This is a game-changer! I can find information instantly across all my workspaces, which is crucial when handling large documentation projects.

Cons

  • ❌ Limited Free Plan – I wish the lower plans included more features. If you're serious about documentation, you’ll likely need to upgrade to a higher plan.
