Nearby Glasses is a free, open-source Android and iOS application that attempts to detect nearby smart glasses and alert users to their presence. It scans Bluetooth Low Energy advertisements for manufacturer identifiers, device names, and service UUIDs associated with smart glasses. Supported identifiers include those linked to Meta, Luxottica, Snapchat, and other manufacturers. Users can adjust signal strength thresholds to control which detected devices trigger warnings. Its Canary Mode provides a visual indication when potential devices are detected. Android supports ongoing scanning through a foreground service, while iOS scanning is limited by system restrictions. Additional options include notification cooldowns, device ignore lists, and exportable debugging logs. Detection is not definitive and may produce false positives or miss nearby devices.
