Whisper Local

Whisper Local is a free, open-source AI dictation application that converts speech into text entirely offline on Windows and macOS. Powered by OpenAI Whisper and faster-whisper, it enables voice typing in virtually any application through customizable keyboard shortcuts. The software automatically inserts transcriptions into active text fields and supports voice commands for executing shortcuts, launching programs, and entering predefined text. It offers smart punctuation, transcription cleanup, personalized vocabulary corrections, and configurable writing styles. Optional Ollama integration provides local AI-powered text rewriting and refinement. NVIDIA and AMD GPU acceleration can improve transcription performance, while CPU processing remains available. Additional tools include searchable transcription history, application-specific profiles, and a local OpenAI-compatible transcription API. All speech processing remains on the user's device.
